Steve (Mark) Otway was born on the 5th December 1987 in Leamington Spa, and grew up in a small village called Barby. While there he joined Trudy Clarkes School of Modern Dance, performing as the only boy amongst many girls. He attended Daventry William Parker School until 2002, when he moved with his family to Dorset. There he attended Sturminster Newton High School, and then Sixth form gaining ten GCSE’s and A levels in Media Studies, Performance and ICT. He played the role of ‘Mickey’ in the sixth form musical production of Blood Brothers, which fuelled his love for performance.
In 2006 Steve moved to London to study Film at Roehampton University. Since then he has been involved in a number of productions working with many different people, and formed the team Magic Wand Productions in 2008 for his Third Year musical production of ‘Fairytale’ for which he spent the better part of a year working on, collaborated in writing the script, composing a song himself, and being heavily involved with all aspects of pre’ and post-production. It was during this project he met Catrina Farnell, who choreographed ‘Fairytale’, and later asked him to direct her debut dance based musical. He also worked with actress Aimi Percival, who soon after hired Steve to edit her personal showreel. The pair still work together on various projects. Steve is currently living in London, and plans to turn his passion into a career, while still working on personal projects of his own from short films, music and promo videos to animation, photo manipulation and music composition. |
